Social Media: The Place to Be

Overall, I find that people are very hesitant to take the first step into the social media realm, but the fact is, not moving into more contemporary marketing is hurting them (especially those in the recruitment industry). True, if you don’t maintain your social networks they can be a detriment to your business, but if you do keep up with them (or have us do that) they can drive an exciting amount of traffic.

There are 2 billion active social users all over the world, which means that your audience is out there waiting to be engaged. Social is where people spend their time and passively click things that interest them (including jobs). It is really the place to be for marketers. In fact, according to Hubspot 80% of marketers and 60% of sales professionals found new leads on social media networks.

So why is social so effective? One of the reasons is that it is a marketing platform that is incredibly flexible. For instance, Twitter and Facebook allow you to track how your marketing is going through high-level analytics. If you notice that one marketing strategy isn’t working, you can always adjust and see exactly how the changes did in terms of engagement. In my mind the other reason is because it allows you to completely optimize and customize your posts on each network so that reaching the target audience becomes easier and more focused.

So how often can you post on each network without driving away your Likers and Followers? How much content is too much content? Here’s a baseline from Hubspot:

  • Twitter: Up to 4-6 times per day
  • Facebook: Up to 2 times per day
  • LinkedIn: Up to 2 times per week
